Ancient Hopi Blood still beats with the Rhythyms of the Sacred Traditions.. How fortunate that we were to be invited to the Soltice Dance of the LongHair Kachina at Third Mesa. The Kachinas After Nights of prayer and Lifetimes of Practice in the Kiva,Emerge with their Song and Sacred Drumbeat at 9am for the first round of Dance. In all 4 songs repeated 3 times each. All songs and dances are dedicated for all Peoples of the World.
They sing and dance giving thanks for the blessings of Nature, the Rain , the Gifts of Abundance , to sustain the way of Peace, Joyful Effort and Sharing.100 Kachinas in Synchronistic Ancient Rhythms of the Ancient Heartbeat Move in Dance with their Sacred Songs, Sung in Unison. How Beautiful and Deep this Timeless Pool of Ancient Wisdom is,as it reaches into the Mythic Realms of the World Soul,
After the first round of dance and song the Kachinas return to the Kiva for Sacred Pipe, and Prayer. They then return with armloads of the gifts of Nature their Labors, laying them in the middle of the Plaza. Then the second round of Dance and Song begins. At its conclusion , the gifts are brought by the Kachinas to the people of the Plaza throwing some to the rooftops to awaiting hands, and throwing , and handing others to those seated around the plaza. Then the third Dance round begins with the Song giving thanks again for the Generous way of Peace and Nature.
All of this continues through the day and into the Evening, Each time with the new round of Song and Dance, the Gift piles grow in size . Each time the Energy of the Dance grows with Joy and Thanks for the Oneness of the Hopi and all Peoples with Nature and the Sacredness of all Life.
The final Dance includes the Blessing of all the Dancing Kachinas and the Sun with Corn Polen as the Kachinas sing and Dance, the Initiated of the Tribe circle and bless all the Kachinas.
Of course we must not leave out the Clowns whose roll is to do there best to demonstrate the wrong way of behavior . the wrong songs , bad language and the distubance of the Rhythm of the People. They sing and drum and act foolishly. Should they cause any disruption to the Dance or song for any of the Kachinas, they are grabbed by the Discplinarian Kachinas and are taken around the plaza to the Women and have Purifying water poured over their Heads .
We thank the Mooya family and all the people of Kykotsmovi , third Mesa , for their gracious Hopitality and the sharing of their Sacred Songs and Dances with us, two Bahanas from Sedona .
